E. Gorton Davis was born on May 7, 1880 and received a B.A. from Dennison University in 1905. He came to Cornell in 1911 as Assistant Professor of Rural Art; in 1912, he became Assistant Professor of Landscape Architecture, and from 1916 until his death in 1930, served as Professor of Landscape Architecture.
